Participants familiarise themselves with the software by creating personal pages and a web page for their school.
Personal pages and school homepages are used to introduce individuals and schools to the other participants.
Pages can be enhanced with pictures, music files and video, forums, chat rooms and guest books.
Participants produce mind maps of Africa to share and discuss with other schools using chat rooms, forums and email. Students reassess their impressions of Africa:
Participants conduct independent research into the challenges facing young people in Africa and then each school identifies the five challenges which they think are the most pressing. This is ascertained by a classroom vote. The challenges are then collated by the facilitators who create a list of the Top Ten Challenges identified by all the participants and schools are then allocated a challenge for further study in Stage 4. Launch the Students Work to see what the participants voted the Top Ten Challenges.
A group of 5 of the participating schools do in depth research into one of the Top Ten Challenges that they have been allocated. Their work is uploaded onto the software system to be shared with others.
